"Master of the Ledgestone" - A trip to Jasper National Park in early November of 2025 sparked the inspiration for Master of the Ledgestone. Snow-capped peaks, rugged cliffs, and crisp mountain light came together to create the perfect setting for this powerful mountain goat billy.

What really pulled me into this piece was the contrast, hard, broken stone against the soft mass of a white animal, and the challenge of capturing light and shadow across his coat. The surrounding mountains and foothills add depth, while the ledge beneath his feet anchors him firmly in this harsh, vertical world.

The vertical format was chosen with intent, giving a true sense of altitude and exposure as the billy looks out over the crags below. Calm, confident, and completely at home where few others could stand, he truly earns his place as the master of the ledgestone.
