SOMEWHERE ON THE KAKWA

The distant call of a bull elk echoing through the forest, nothing to me better signifies the arrival of autumn like that sound. The yellowing aspen leaves, the smell of the morning mist and the vegetation all culminated to fill my senses. This painting was a direct result of immersing myself in these elements while out elk hunting in northern Alberta along the Kakwa river.
