My passion for painting elk began at a very young age, deeply inspired by legendary artists like Leon Parson and Carl Rungius. In the 1970s, flipping through the illustrated pages of Outdoor Life—when wildlife art still reigned—only fueled that fascination. Those early images etched the elk into my imagination, and they’ve remained one of my most meaningful subjects ever since.
